Where else but New Canaan can a family of four go out for ice cream and pizza for less than a crisp five dollar bill?
From 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, Baskin-Robbins is teaming up with Joe’s Pizza, the Bank of New Canaan, and New Canaan Fire Department for “31-Cent Scoop Night”.
Last year’s Scoop Night sold close to 1,700 scoops of ice cream and 1,800 slices of Joe’s pizza, for the benefit of National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. The Bank of New Canaan last year also distributed 400 piggy banks each containing 31 cents.
This year’s event plans to be “just as big and bold,” according to a press release from New Canaan Fire Company No. 1. “Baskin-Robbins and Joe’s Pizza will be working hard all night to hand out as many scoops and slices as they can for 31 cents each.”
James Daniel Music will provide musical entertainment.
New Canaan Firefighters also will be in attendance to collect donations for The Mikey Czech Foundation, as they did in 2008 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Ib.l.a.s.t. cards will also be for sale during the event, with 31 percent of proceeds going toward The Mikey Czech Foundation.
This evening was started due to a $100,000 donation from Baskin-Robbins corporate to the National Volunteer Fire Council’s National Junior Firefighter Program. Here in New Canaan, all proceeds will go to the Mikey Czech Foundation.
More information about the foundation may be found online at mikeyczech.org.
